SIGMA present at the AGU Fall Meeting 2016

List of all the Sigma news

Last week the AGU Fall Meeting, bringing together more than 20 000 earth scientists, took place in San Francisco. GEOGLAM, the Global Agricultural Monitoring Initiative, hosted sessions on Food Security and Early Warning.

SIGMA, as contributor to GEOGLAM, was presented in these sessions as partner of the JECAM (Joint Experiment of Crop Assessment and Monitoring) project. Roel Van Hoolst (VITO Remote Sensing) presented a poster on a SIGMA research topic on global trend analysis on earth observation based phenology and vegetation productivity. In this global analysis, led by Geoville, long time series of vegetation indices are used to detect hot spots of changing vegetation and its relation with climate and not-climate drivers.

FAO’s Agricultural Stress Index System (ASIS), developed by VITO, was also presented in the GEOGLAM session
